Javi Gracia says he was amazed by Watford’s”sudden” and”sudden” decision to sack him Saturday.
The Hornets re-appointed after taking only one point from their first four Premier League games of the 23, former boss Quique Sanchez Flores.
Gracia departed Vicarage Road after having Watford to only one win in their last ten games, a streak that extended back to April.
But the Spaniard says he was amazed by the decision having taken the club to an Premier League finish – their best from the Premier League age – along with the FA Cup in 2018/19.
“Following the unexpected announcement about the conclusion of my contract after just four games, I want to express my shock after competing the ideal year in Watford’s history,” Gracia said in a statement.
“I respect that decision and I’d love to guarantee the exceptional relationship I have with Gino Pozzo and Filippo Giradi, also it’s not going to shift despite my sudden exit of the club.
“I am thankful to this club for allowing me to manage this fantastic club in the Premier League, it’s been an extraordinary experience, with really particular moments like the FA Cup last I had the privilege to enjoy.
“I wish to thank every single person who works to get this particular club, and it has made my everyday really straightforward. My gratefullness and love for this club would be eternal.
“And finally, I wish to thank the fans for supporting me how that they did from day one, before my last. I’ll always want the fans and those players the very best.”
Gracia was under a year. Watford had the choice to extend the deal by a further 3 decades.
