According to a recent study done by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), Argentina ranks 4th on a global list of women in legislative government. Argentina, which has a 40% female legislative body, trails only Finland, Sweden, and Rwanda in the rankings.  Globally, women make up 17.7 per cent of the world’s legislators, which is a 2 per cent increase from last year (2007).

In October, Argentina elected their 2nd-ever female president, Cristina Fernandez Kirchner. Though the perverbial glass ceiling still exists here, studies such as these show that the country has made tremendous strides in leveling the playing field for women in government.
