A train collided with a double-decker bus this weekend, killing 17 people and injuring 65, about 130 kilometers south of Buenos Aires. According to Reuters News Agency, the bus was headed back to the capital from Mar del Plata, the popular beach city on the Atlantic coast. The accident apparently occurred when the bus driver tried to beat out the train at an intersection. Witnesses claim that the train gave repeated warnings of the impending collision with its horn, but did not have enough time to stop when the bus crossed onto the railroad tracks. Miraculously, both drivers survived the accident.
