Argentina’s Jewish-based schools, temples, and social organizations have increased security following last week’s Hezbollah terrorist attack in an Israeli school. According to Luis Grynwald, chairman of the Argentine Mutual Aid Jewish Organization (AMIA), the measures have been taken due to Hezbollah’s threat of extending its actions beyond the middle-east. Argentina has the 7th largest Jewish population in the world, and was targeted by Hezbollah in a 2004 bombing which killed 84 people at AMIA’s Buenos Aires headquarters. Hezbollah was also blamed for a 2002 bombing at the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires which killed 29 people.
