85 Schools in Rural Argentina to Receive Solar Energy

The province of Corrientes is investing 2 million dollars in a program that will bring solar energy to 85 schools without power. The project is in response to growing concern over the lack of electricity in Corrientes schools. In many parts of rural Argentina, electricity is either limited or non-existent. Though this will be a big help, the region is still in need of volunteer teachers and aid workers, as well as grants and government subsidies.

With the country in the midst of an energy crisis, solar power seemed like the most viable solution to the problem. The project will be developed initially by a Spanish firm and then maintained by the department of education in the province.
