Members of the Kirchner-lead congress are on the verge of voting to legalize abortions in Argentina, a practice that is currently illegal in the South American nation. Though it’s rarely enforced, current laws prohibit all forms of abortion nationwide. Many see the current laws as antiquated and discriminatory.
The new bill, if passed, would not guarantee that all types of abortions would be legal. Instead, the bill contains protocol and regulations which serve as guidelines on how to receive an abortion legally.
