Today’s MercoPress is reporting that Argentina is preparing a package of benefits for their military officers in an attempt to keep them from leaving the service. The country reports that a large number of the officers have been leaving for civilian jobs due to lack of pay, and poor retirement benefits.
The average Argentine officer with 15 years experience currently makes only $650 USD per month, and only 60% of that is usable towards a retirement plan. The new incentive package will give officers better retirement packages, as well as a stipend for their children. The proposed package will cost Argentina roughly $11.4 million USD.
