This Saturday, March 29, the city of Buenos Aires is celebrating World Poetry Day with a tribute to Argentine poets in the Botanical Gardens on Palermo. The afternoon event will feature readings, speaches, and presentations celebrating the country’s most famous poetic writers. The featured poets for the event are Luis Borges, Horacio Ferrer, Enrique Santos Discepolo, and Homero Manzi.

World Poetry Day is officially held on March 21, which is during Semana Santa, a national holiday in Argentina. Therefore, the city pushed back the event to the following weekend. The day was declared by UNESCO in order to promote reading, writing, publishing, and teaching poetry throughout the world.
