This year’s Davis Cup tennis semifinals between Argentina and Sweden will be held in the newer Parque Roca stadium, rather than the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club in Palermo. This will be the first time the event comes to Parque Roca, and the city is hoping that the new venue can do more than just draw a bigger crowd, which will exceed 14,000 as opposed to the usual 5,000. The 2-year-old Parque Roca is located in Villa Soldati, considered a poorer and less favorable neighborhood. The city expects that income from the stadium and added national attention will help rebuild this struggling part of the city.

The new stadium has nearly 3 times the capacity of the Lawn Tennis Club and all of the state of the art amenities needed for a national tennis venue. The Parque Roca complex covers around 200 hectares of land and also houses Argentinas National Tennis Center and training facilities.
