Fresh off a flight from San Francisco, the Olympic torch has arrived in Buenos Aires for the ceremonial trip through the South American nation. The torch has been a source of great controversy so far, with protestors marring many local events in protest of China’s position in Tibet. In Buenos Aires, protests are expected, but Mayor Macri insists that security is adequate for the event. Nearly 6,000 police will be on hand for the ceremonial march from Puerto Madero to Recoleta. Soccer legend and unofficial Argentine ambassador Diego Maradona will be carrying the torch on its firs leg. The ceremony starts at noon, and should run for about 2 hours or so.
