Although it’s still two years away, Roy Witman of the American Chronicle has named Buenos Aires as South America’s “hottest hot spot”, in preparation for the city’s bicentennial. He attributes architecture, nightlife, and a rich cultural heritage as reasons why the city is now one of the “hottest” to visit on the continent. Witman is also the Vice-President of Cruise Vacation Center, which books South American cruises, including many to Buenos Aires. According to Witman, now is the time to book, with an expected influx of tourists and themed events slated for the 2010 celebration. The cruising industry pumped over $110 million USD into the local economy last year, which is a 35% increase over the previous year. Expectations are high for 2008 and 2009, and vacation packages often sell out months or even years in advance. For more info on booking check out Witman’s cruising website here.
