The city of Buenos Aires has launched a blog to “directly and informally” communicate with residents. The blog, called Aire y Luz is breaking new ground by personalizing a branch of the government that many distrust or feel disconnected with. The city’s mayor, Mauricio Macri, posts daily thoughts and videos of what he’s doing in the city, showing both the successes and problems facing the city’s residents. For travelers visiting Buenos Aires, it’s a helpful resource to get to know how the city works beneath the surface. It’s also a way for travelers to get a real look at the people that live and work here, rather than just the tourist facade that they would normally be exposed to.
