Mexican film Intimidades de Shakespeare y Victor Hugo won the prize for best film at the 10th annual Buenos Aires International Film Festival, held this month at a number of the city’s cinemas. The festival, which concluded on Sunday, is a huge cultural event for Argentina, and showcases some of the world’s most talented directors, actors, and writers. Considered the cultural hub of Argentina, festivals such as these bring thousands of visitors to the Buenos Aires, and expose the international community to local talent, which goes far beyond the tango and soccer stars the city’s famous for. And the international community has noticed. Francis Ford Coppola has been living in Buenos Aires for a few months now, filming his new movie, and making the best of locally designed sets, locations, and actors. The Buenos Aires International Film Festival runs every year for two weeks in April.
