Cruisers Make Best of Bad Situation After Colliding with Cargo Ship

His Norwegian Cruise Line ship, the Norwegian Dream, had to change captains and itineraries after hitting the cargo ship in Montevideo, Uruguay, on its way from Buenos Aires to Puerto Madryn in Patagonia. Though none of the 1,700 passengers were injured, the trip was delayed due to repairs, and a half-refund was offered to all aboard. The total delay lasted three days, but when the ship finally re-launched, it was smooth sailing around Cape Horn to the Pacific Ocean, Chile, and eventually back home. The cruise industry saw a 35% increase in related profit for the city of Buenos Aires in 2007, and continues to be a growing market for the Argentine tourist industry, netting the city over $110 million dollars in profits.
