Geology professors Carrie Schweitzer and Rodney Feldmann of Kent State University recently returned from spring break in Argentina with an abundance of rare and precious fossils. The professors, who specialize in Crab Fossils, said that they were in abundance in the Tierra del Fuego region, near Rio Grande. When they came down on vacation, they knew of the potential to make theses finds, but had no idea how easy it would be. According to Schweitzer, their trip was spawned by an Argentine colleague at the University of Santa Rosa, who noted that no Crab Fossil specialists had been in the region for almost 30 years. The fossils were brought back to the US, and are now in the professors’ Kent State lab.
