World Sailing Trip Cancelled While Rounding Southern Argentina
Apr 28, 2008 Click to Comment → PrintAmerican sailor and adventurist Glenn Wakefield has been forced to abandon his mission of sailing around the world, due to a damaged boat and poor weather conditions while rounding the Cape Horn of Argentina. Wakefield was picked up by Argentine naval vessel Puerto Deseado, just off the shores of Patagonia, this Sunday, when the ship began taking on water and it was discovered that there was serious engine damage. Wakefield was on day 215 of his solo, non-stop voyage to circumnavigate the globe by sea. The boat hasn’t been recovered, and Wakefield feels the journey was a success, despite the unexpected termination of his voyage.
