Earlier this year, American magazine The Wine Advocate rated over 100 Argentine wines, each scoring over 90 out of 100 points on their review scale. According to the magazine, 13 of those wines scored higher than 96, which is a title usually reserved for French and Italian varieties. The most popular reds were Malbecs, Argentina’s best-known grape variety, followed closely by Cabernet Sauvignon. The ranking has pushed sales and promoted the popularity of the Wines of Argenina group, which does global tastings and promotions of Argentine wines. The Mendoza region continues to be popular with tourists searching out local wines, with wine-themed tours and vacations selling out year-round.
