May 2, 2008 Click to Comment → PrintPete Sampras, who was the world’s best tennis player at one time, will come to Buenos Aires for the first time to take on Argentine tennis sensation David Nalbandian in an exhibition match. The match, titled Desafio de Maestros, or Masters’ Challenge, will be held at Luna Park on May 20th. Nalbandian is currently ranked at number 7 in the world, according to the 2008 ATP rankings. Luna Park is an indoor arena, so the match will be held on a synthetic carpet surface. Though he’s well into his thirties, Sampras is still in top physical condition, and the exhibition is being highly anticipated by Argentine tennis enthusiasts who have yet to see the former pro in person. The match is part of a global tour by Sampras to benefit Children’s Hospitals and Cancer Centers worldwide. Ticket prices vary depending on seats. The match starts at 9pm.
