Antarctica Tours Gaining Popularity, Launching Market Through Southern Argentina

Antarctica has long been on the radar as a destination for extreme nature travelers. The harsh climate and location has made it a difficult spot to reach, and is rarely on the agenda of the casual tourist. That all may be changing now, as one travel blogger writes, as Antarctica tours are not only accessible, but popular with tourists visiting southern Argentina. Most tours launch from Ushuaia, known as the continent’s southernmost city, and cross the Drake Passage into the north coast of Antarctica. The trip is not for the feint of heart, with some of the roughest seas in the world and sub-zero temps being a normal part of the voyage. While there, a traveler can expect to see giant icebergs, penguin colonies, and mountainous snow and ice-scapes inland. Trips are limited to the Spring and Summer months, and may be subject to change due to weather conditions and ocean currents.
