The city of Rosario, in the Santa Fe province, has announced that it will hold a public celebration for the would-be 80th birthday of Argentine folk hero Ernesto “Che” Guevara. The celebrations will run from June 12-15, and will include speeches, musical performances, and an unveiling of a Che Guevara statue in his honor. The statue is made out of bronze that was entirely donated by scrap metal parts from the Argentine people. The event will be attended by local government leaders, as well as Jorge Luis Mayo, the second advisor chief of the Cuban diplomatic mission in Argentina. Guevara played a key role in the development of Cuba during the revolution, and he’s still regarded as a hero in many parts of South America, as well as the rest of the world.
