Arrival of Snow Makes Some in Chubut Look Past Volcano to Ski Season

According to the Clarín, the snow in some areas, snow reached 40 centimeters in height, causing it to be declared a “climactic emergency” in some areas. In the town of Esquel, the snow poses a serious transportation problem but also promises that the ski season is just ahead. Head of the ski resort La Hoya, Martín Capplonch, confirmed that they are planning on going ahead and opening the resort as schedules, hoping that tourists will not chose to take their business to less ashy locations. However, for the moment, the excess of snow is blocking many of the routes, leaving trucks and buses stranded.
