Palermo Residents Fight to Preserve Barrio’s Unique Personality

A group of Palermo residents sent in complaints to the Clarín’s “Testigo Urbano” section as well as the city government, demanding that a building in their area adhere to the zone’s building rules. Palermo, known for its small, two story buildings and trendy atmosphere, is a site of much development and tourism. Its popularity is precisely why developers are so eager to build, yet residents can fairly argue that by building too much and too high, they destroy the environment that people come to experience. The building in question, on the corner of Arévalo y Costa Rica, is, according to residents, larger than the builders claimed it would be. They do not know yet if the government will intervene to stop construction.
