Ice in Plaza de Mayo a Protest Against Global Warming

Artist Mookie Tenembaum created an art installation in the Plaza de Mayo yesterday out of 1,000 kilos of ice. The installation, said Tenebaum, is a protest against the “sickness” of global warming and was done to raise awareness. Surprising passers by, the enormous pile of ice is just one of the ways in which this famous plaza is used by Argentines to express their political opinions. It is also the place where the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo meets every Thursday and where Argentines gathered when the peso crashed in 2001.
