Yesterday, the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo restored the identity of Laura DÃaz, the child of Silvia Dameri and Orlando Ruiz, both of whom were “disappeared†by the last military junta. According to the Clarin, the man responsible, Juan Antonio Azic, worked at the famous detention center ESMA and is currently in custody. Laura is the 90th child whose identity has been restored thanks to the Madres de la Plaza de Mayo, who continue to search for lost children so many years after the end of the dictatorship. Their campaign for justice is one of the many reasons they are nominated for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize.
