The Argentine men’s soccer team defeated Mexico 4-1 in a game on Wednesday in San Diego, California. Scoring three unanswered goals in the first thirty minutes, Argentina quickly had the game under control and such a powerful performance bodes well for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers. According to Goal.com, they played to a record crowd for soccer in Qualcomm Stadium—68,498—normally the home of the San Diego Chargers. The game is the first of two in the United States for Argentina. They face the USA on the 8th, a match up that is sure to elicit the same kind of loud cheers and cries that rang through the streets of Buenos Aires Wednesday night.

Brilliant game. Mexico tried hard and created quite a number of chances actually, but were simply outclassed by Argentina on the night. Eriksson will have quite a job on his hand to lift the spirits of his new team.
