In a survey released by the Argentine Canine Federation (ACF), the Golden Retriever is the nation’s favorite dog. 9,904 Golden Retriever births were recorded in the last year, beating the second place Caniche—a type of poodle—with 8,337, and the third place Labrador Retriever with 7,609. Dogs are hugely popular in Argentina; herds of them are walked by a single person and their droppings make many sidewalks a mine field. Of course, a dog like a Golden Retriever isn’t cheap to buy or maintain. A Golden Retriever costs from 500 to 2,000 pesos. But who can put a price on an animal described by the ACF as good-natured, clean, and perfect for children?
