At this year’s International Wine Challenge, Argentina won six trophies, including the international trophies for the best Cabernet Franc and Tannat. This victory shows that Argentina may be known for more than just Malbecs. The biggest blind tasting in the world, the International Wine Challenge lasts for two weeks and the 376 judges sample over 9,000 kinds of wine from 38 countries. Only 90 wines won prizes this year, with France, Australia, and Portugal winning the most. Argentina’s performance was notable because six is the largest number of trophies the country has won to date, edging out Chile, which won five.
