A long way from its home in Berlin, an original version of the silent film Metropolis was just discovered in the Museo del Cine de Buenos Aires. How did it get there? Strangely, according to the Clarín, no one seems to be sure. What is certain, however, is that this copy is an exact version of the film that director Fritz Lang showed 81 years ago. Of course, the copy is very old and in need of restoration before it can match the restored 2002 version in quality. Fans of this great classic of German film can only be pleased, since the new scenes present in this copy will lead to a reexamination—and perhaps give some clarification—of this complex science fiction masterpiece.
