From today until July 9th, Buenos Aires will be hosting a film festival of Spanish films that often do not find space to play in the crowded Spanish film circuit. According to Yahoo Argentina, the festival is a way for the two nations to show their strong, though complex, ties. The relationship between Argentina and Spain is particularly interesting at the moment, as Spain has established controversial new immigration laws and Argentina is about to remember the day it was finally free of Spanish colonialism. In addition to the films, there will also be a delegation from the Spanish film industry coming to meet with Argentine cinema specialists. These important figures in world film will attend the opening of festival at the Sheraton Hotel. The films will be shown in two cinemas: Complejo Atlas Patio Bullrich and the micro-cinema of the Escuela Nacional de Experimentación y Realización Cinematográfica (ENERC).
