The musical Hairspray is currently playing in the Teatro Astral on Av. Corrientes, the Broadway of Buenos Aires. In the lead role of Tina Turnblad is Vanesa Paz Butera, who won the reality TV show “Yo quiero ser la protagonista de Hairspray” (I want to be the lead of Hairspray). Cross-dressing in the role of Tina’s mother is famous Argentine actor Enrique Pinti, who starred in the Argentina version of The Producers. In the recent film, this was the role of John Travolta. According to My Buenos Aires Travel Guide, the Argentine version of Hairspray has been translated into Spanish and tickets are available both online and at the theater’s box office.
