Every year for the past 14 years, people have come together on Pastuer Street to remember one of the biggest terrorist attacks in the history of Argentina: the bombing of the AMIA Jewish Center. This year, in addition to the traditional remembrance ceremony, 30 Jewish leaders and 21 Latin American legislators had a conference to discuss fighting global terrorism. The group, working under the auspices The Latin American Jewish Congress, included members from Argentina, Israel, Paraguay, Chile, Peru, Uruguay and Brazil. While Christina didn’t attend this year’s remembrance ceremony—perhaps due to the controversy over the recent Senate vote on export taxes—the event was attended by the Major of Buenos Aires and many other Latin American, US, and Israeli officials.
