Tomorrow at 5:30 the Buenos Aires Minister of Culture is presiding over the re-inauguration of a statue of Osvaldo Pugliese, which was desecrated in 2007. According to the government’s website, the first inauguration of the statue took place in 2005 to celebrate the centennial of the pianist’s birth. The statue was made by sculptor Paula Franzi and alter it was partially destroyed it was returned to her to fix. Now, this new celebration of the pianist’s life and works will be celebrated by the Orquesta del Tango de la Ciudad, dancers from the Osvaldo Pugliese Cultural Center, and Pugliese’s widow.
