Yesterday, the Argentina’s women field hockey team lost 5-2 to the Netherlands, ending their Olympic bid for the year. After a great run, Las Leonas were unexpectedly upset by the Netherlands, who finished in second place behind Argentina at Athens in 2004. According to the Clarín, the Netherlands showed their dominance early, taking a 3-0 lead in the first half. Even though Argentina’s offence picked up in the second half, putting in 2 goals, it wasn’t enough to regain the lead. The Netherlands will face China in the finals for the gold and, this Friday, Argentina will take on Germany to play for the bronze.
