At the end of every winter, a series of rain storms comes, known as Santa Rosa, and this year it is arriving right now! The name Santa Rosa comes from a legend about a Dominican nun, Saint Rosa, whose ship was attacked by pirates. She was saved when God sent a great storm down and kept the pirates from making port and attacking. According to La Nacion, this rain storm affects the provinces of Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Cordoba, and Entre Ríos. Yesterday, the rain began to fall around noon and it has continued sporadically since then, with thunder and lightning. The Meteorological Service is saying to expect rain, high speed winds, and possible hail in some areas, as the Santa Rosa plays itself out.
