Last night, at the Sugar Bar in Palermo, American ex-patriots as well as many others watched Barack Obama give his acceptance speech at the Democratic Convention. The speech, taking place at 8pm in Denver where the convention was held, was show live at 11pm on a big screen TV. The event was hosted by the Democrats Abroad Argentina as well as the Expat Connection. An important part of the event, besides watching the convention, was the effort of volunteers working to register voters. Registering voters from either party, it was an effort to make sure than even Americans living abroad get the chance to have their voices heard. The event was well attended, since for many it was a great way to experience a historic moment with people from their home country.
