In 2006, the Festival Beckett Buenos Aires was created to celebrate the famous playwright Samuel Beckett’s 100th birthday. The festival, sponsored by the Irish Embassy, presents both plays by Beckett and plays inspired by Beckett and his characters. According to My Buenos Aires Travel Guide, the festival begins this Sunday at 7:30 with a performance based on three of Beckett’s female characters. Various plays will be performed for all of the weekends in September, including on play in English. Happy Days will show on the 27th and 28th and will be performed by an English speaking cast invited from London. Tickets are 20 pesos and the plays are all being held in the Centro Cultural Borges in the Galerías Pacífico.
