Juan Martin Del Potro’s amazing winning tennis streak was cut short Wednesday in the quarter-finals of the US Open by British player Andy Murray. According to The Scotsman, Del Potro went down in the game early, fighting hard but losing the first two sets to Murray in tie breakers, 7-6 (7-2) and 7-6 (7-1). Del Potro fought back, winning the third set 4-6, but lost control in the fourth set, 7-5, to end the match. A game a great energy and excitement, the match lasted for three hours and 58 minutes. Murray’s win sets up a semi-final match between him and the number one seed, Rafael Nadal. He is the fifth British player to reach the semi-finals in the era of “opens” in tennis.
