The El Calafate Southern Lights Dialogue is being held in Patagonia, near the Upsala and Perito Moreno glaciers. According to the official website, the conference started yesterday and will run until the 18th. Ministers from twenty-five countries will come together in the small town of Calafate to discuss the future of climate change, specifically climate change measures to be taken post-2012, when the current climate change measures expire. This conference is one of several leading up to talks in Poznan, Poland this December at the Conference of the Parties. It is appropriate that such a meeting take place near the famous glaciers, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, since glaciers are one of the many natural wonders threatened by global warming.
