On Wednesday, the Argentine Paralympics soccer team won the bronze medal in Beijing, defeating Spain in penalties and winning 1-0. According to the Rio Negro, the team is called the “Murciélagos,” because they are all blind as “bats,” a requirement to play soccer in the Paralympics. The starting line up of the team was Gonzalo Abbas Hachaché, Eduardo Díaz, Diego Cerega, Silvio Velo y Lucas Rodríguez. The team was very excited about their victory, especially after such a long and grueling game that was locked in a tie. Following in the steps of the Olympic soccer team, which took gold in Beijing, the Murciélagos continued Argentina’s legacy of being a soccer power in any arena.
