On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, the Teatro Colon Orchestra is performing Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 “Choral,” by Ludwig van Beethoven. This symphony is the last symphony composed by Beethoven and is considered to be the apotheosis of his previous symphonies. According to My Buenos Aires Travel Guide, a number of soloists will perform with the orchestra, including soprano Monica Philibert, mezzo soprano Monica Sardi, tenor Fernando Chabale, and baritone Lenardo Estevez. The performance is at the Auditorio de Belgrano on Virrey Loreto 2348 and tickets cost from 16 to 50 pesos. They can be purchased at the Colón Theater and the Auditorio Belgrano’s ticket offices.
