All of the goals came in the first 32 minutes and after that, in the 39^th minute, Sebastian Battaglia of Boca was sent off for tackling from behind, leaving Boca a man short. River lost 3-1 to San Martin-Tucuman, a team which has only recently been promoted and was thought to be no challenge for a team like River. However, even though River initially took a 1-0 lead in the 11^th minute, they were tied in the 34^th and then surpassed by the end of the game. These losses caused Boca to fall to fifth place and River to drop to 17^th in the tournament rankings.
