This weekend, in the Apertura tournament of Argentine soccer, to of the country’s most popular and powerful teams suffered surprising defeats. According to Reuters UK, Boca lost to Tigre 3-2 at home. All of the goals came in the first 32 minutes and after that, in the 39th minute, Sebastian Battaglia of Boca was sent off for tackling from behind, leaving Boca a man short. River lost 3-1 to San Martin-Tucuman, a team which has only recently been promoted and was thought to be no challenge for a team like River. However, even though River initially took a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, they were tied in the 34th and then surpassed by the end of the game. These losses caused Boca to fall to fifth place and River to drop to 17th in the tournament rankings.
