September 27th was World Tourism Day and the Buenos Aires government celebrated by offering free bus tours for anyone who wanted to take a look at the city’s many sites. According to My Buenos Aires Travel Guide, there was a circuit of free hop-on, hop-off buses which departed from four head points in the city. The points were the Obelisk, Recoleta (Quintana 596), Plaza Italia, and La Boca (Av. Pedro de Mendoza and Palos). Along the route there were fourteen stops, including in San Telmo, the Plaza de Mayo, Puerto Madero, and the Costanera Sur. The importance of tourism to the city of Buenos Aires is enormous, considering how many foreigners now visit every year and how much money they bring to help grow the local economy.
