This Sunday in Buenos Aires, all clocks moved an hour forward, making the nights last longer (perhaps saving energy) and syncing Argentina with its neighbor, Uruguay. However, while President Cristina Kirchner may have announced that October 19th was the official date to change the time, many provinces have ignored her statement and are staying one hour back. According to Living in Patagonia, these provinces are: Catamarca, La Rioja, Mendoza, Salta, San Juan, San Luis, La Pampa, Neuquén, Rio Negro, Chubut, Santa Cruz, Tierra del Fuego and Antartica. A fairly long list of provinces, this means that Argentines, for the first time ever, have two different time zones. Some business people fear that this will cause confusion within the Argentine business community, but people living in these provinces reply that they time change makes their summer nights far too long.
