Diego Maradona to be Named Argentina’s Coach

In a move that is shocked soccer fans across the world, Argentina is set to announce that Diego Maradona will be the national soccer team’s new head coach. Though it was known that he was in the running for the job, left vacant on October 16th by Alfio Basile, no one thought Maradona would get it because of his limited experience coaching. According to Telegraph, Maradona has only coached Deportivo Mandiyu for two months in 1994 and Racing Club for four months in 1995. Nonetheless, Argentine Football Association (AFA) president Julio Grondona has offered him the job and he is expected to accept it this coming Tuesday. Can Argentina’s soccer darling do the trick for a struggling national team? That remains to be seen.

Oh dear… forget what I said before about Argentina being a sure thing for world cup qualification even despite their recent poor form – this could be a disaster for the national team.

Not only does he have basically no experience in this kind of role, but also in general extremely talented football players just don’t make the transition to be good coaches or managers. As they had so much talent that came easily to them, they didn’t have train so hard, and find it hard an frustrating to train players that have a lot less talent.

Not to mention the fact that Maradonna is a loco.

Well, best of luck Diego… You’ll need it!
