Commemorating Lorca’s Visit to Argentina 75 Years Ago

Federico Garcia Lorca is one of the most important names in Spanish poetry, and his visit to Argentina will be commemorated at the Café Tortoni. According to Revista Ñ, he visited Argentina 75 years ago and the Café Tortoni was where he often met with friends to discuss art and poetry. As if well known, Lorca was killed in Spain during the Spanish Civil War, and it is unknown to this day exactly where his grave lies. The author of “Poeta en Nueva York” was in Argentina during 1934, a mere two years before his death in Spain in 1936. On the 75th Anniversary of his visit to Argentina, there will be a celebration of all his favorite places in Buenos Aires. For those who love poetry, or the mystery of this poet who was killed so young, the event must fascinate.
