According to a press release on MarketWatch, ridership on the Latin American carrier LAN is up for the month of October.  The number of international travelers for October rose 2.8% and additional flights to Mexico, the Caribbean and the United States pumped up international capacity 2.0%.  Domestically speaking, passenger traffic in Chile, Argentina and Peru rose 33.9% due to expansion in their Argentine and Chilean hubs.  Cargo traffic matched the favorable percentages with a growth of 8.7%, thanks to strong import markets, notably in Brazil.  The most important statistic, however, was that during September, 89.3% of all flights left on time, based on a fifteen-minute standard.  If you do the math, that’s only .7% away from an A-!
