One-hundred and forty Buddy Bears arrived this week to promote peace and charity during their global tour. Each bear represents one nation of the United Nations and stand in a circle round San Martin Square. The Argentine bear is designed by the Fileteados of Buenos Aires and will be auctioned off for a local nonprofit. Since their creation in 2002, more than 20 million visitors have admired the Bears and more than 2 million dollars have been raised for UNICEF and local children’s charities. They will be on display in Argentina until April 2009.
