Hostels
Since Córdoba is a youthful city, and since it’s the gateway to the Sierras Chicas, it has a lot of hostels. One particular standout, Baluch Backpackers Hostel, recently opened in the city center, just blocks from both bus stations. It’s also on a pedestrian walkway and within walking distance of plazas, parks and shopping. There are double rooms and 4 and 6-bed dorms. All the different rooms have balconies, and there is a rooftop terrace with a bbq (for Friday asados), views of the city and a paddling pool. Baluch has Wi-Fi and free Internet, cable TV, a DVD library and a book exchange. The hostel is run by a group of Israeli friends, so there are lots of books in Hebrew. There are several bathrooms with plenty of hot water. Breakfast is included (the standard Argentine facturas and Nescafé or tea), and you’ll even get something to eat the day you arrive. They also provide information on tourist activities around the city, as well as sky diving, para-gliding, spelunking and more. Overall all, there’s a friendly, relaxed vibe, and the price ($17 pesos per night for the 6-bed dorm) is excellent.
