Hotels & Hostels

hotelsthumbnail.jpgSan Salvador de Jujuy offers a variety of accommodations, from estancias in the countryside to spas in the city center, four star hotels to youth hostels. It is the only major city in the province, where the local government and the chamber of commerce are found, so it usually seems that many Argentines travel to Jujuy for business or work related reasons. Often, people who live up in the Quebrada split their lives between San Salvador and their village, coming into the capital when banking or businesses needs call for it.

Therefore, it’s a busy city, and has a businesslike feel to it, and it accordingly has many hotels. Be aware that there are not that many middle range accommodations designed for foreign tourists. There are the many four star hotels and hostels, while those in between cater mostly to Argentines and may not be up to U.S. standards.

(This hostel ranks much higher than many in the area – an incredible pool/ asado/ outside bar area, friendly staff and overall great accommodations. Manu Chao stopped through here a few months ago, and booked the hostel for his whole entourage, leaving behind an autographed poster and generally good vibes!)
