Nightlife

Like any self-respecting Argentinian city, Tucumán has an active nightlife. However, be forewarned that the weekend is usually the busiest time – going out on weekdays here is fairly uncommon. Also, a law was passed a couple of years ago dictating that bars and clubs must close at 4 am, to the despair of most Tucumano 20-something year-olds. If you want more details on how that came about, just ask somebody—Tucumanos are more than willing to give you an earful on the subject!

There are a few nice bars on Laprida, and Plaza Urquiza is the hip center of town, with rather high-end restaurants and bars. For recommendations on boliches, ask your hotel or hostel – they’re spread out and they change, so it’s good to get up-to-date information.
